Formed way back in 2004, Dastards are a four piece outfit from accross the UK. Originally formed by frontman Wake, the band has seen innumerable lineups over the years. This constant change means the sound has never really settled until recently. Which leaves the question...
...who are Dastards now?
Vocals and Rythm Guitar is supplied by Wake.
Lead Guitars were kindly donated by George.
Bass is laid down by Jake.
Drums are abused by Mudie.
The four musicians are from very different musical backgrounds: Wake started aged four playing acoustic guitar along to Bob Dylan and David Bowie which later lead to him studying Popular Music Performance at college; George spent his youth learning tricks from Hendrix, Bon Jovi, Slash and just about every other reknowned artist on earth; Jake is a classically trained Double Bass player with a secret Howard Moon-esque passion for Jazz; and Mudie studied Drums at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music which he left with a Distinction.
The band are currently affiliated with Stretch Records, an independent label. This leaves the band in control of everything from their studio sound to thier advertising. This means that as well as being members of the band, they act as PR men, booking agents, promoters, sound engineers and even graphic designers.
While happy with running everything in house due to the liberty it brings, the band are keen to find a means to thrust them into the public eye. And they're fairly sure it'll happen soon...
